Your life, and your parent's. You're carrying both.
Maybe you're holding down a job or running a business. Maybe you're in school, raising kids, or caring for a family member with special needs. And now a parent needs you too, sometimes one living with dementia. Carrying Two Lives is a free community and resource hub for exactly that: practical systems, simple AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT, and people who get it.

The first five things to get in the binder
You don't have to do the whole thing tonight. These five are the ones your family will reach for first, usually at the worst possible moment.
Where everything is
Where the important papers live, who has the key, and two people who know where the binder is.
The paperwork
Powers of attorney for property and health care, the will, a living will, and who holds copies.
The cards
Medicare, supplemental insurance, Social Security and ID. Where each one is kept.
The care team
Doctors, pharmacy, attorney and the neighbor with a key, on one page you can hand to anyone.
The money map
Banks, beneficiaries and autopay bills. Names and locations only, never full account numbers.
A room for people carrying two lives
A free, private Facebook group for anyone caring for a parent while carrying everything else: work, a business, school, kids, a family member with special needs. Daughters and sons, spouses and partners, people planning ahead. No lectures. One useful thing at a time.
A weekly live
Thirty minutes, one thing you can use that day. Recordings stay in the group. Starts in December.
AI as your second brain
How to use Claude and ChatGPT to hold the appointments, paperwork and details your tired brain shouldn't have to.
People who get it
What's shared in the group stays there. Experience and systems, never medical or legal advice.
Some of your best people are carrying more than one life.
Most working caregivers never mention it at work. They're holding a parent's appointments, medications and paperwork alongside their deadlines, and they're often your most experienced people.
Carrying Two Lives: Practical AI for Working Caregivers is a hands-on workshop led by Anita Charlot. In the session, employees build a care assistant in Claude or ChatGPT and leave with four routines:
- A care log for appointments, medications and calls
- A doctor-visit recap with clear next steps
- A weekly family update, so siblings stay on the same page
- Clear privacy rules for what never goes into AI
Workshop at a glance

"Boo, how do I get home?"
I'm Anita Charlot.
My mother calls me Boo. One snowy night in the winter of 2020, she called me from her car and asked that question. It changed how I do everything: my calendar, my paperwork, and how I use AI to remember what my tired brain can't.
I work full time, run a business, and hold power of attorney for my mother, who has dementia. I built Carrying Two Lives for the person reading this on a lunch break, between a meeting, a school pickup and a call to the doctor's office.
You don't have to figure this out alone.

Frequently asked questions
What is Carrying Two Lives?
Carrying Two Lives is a free community and resource hub, created by author and AI adoption strategist Anita Charlot, for people caring for an aging parent while carrying everything else: a job or a business, school, children, or a family member with special needs. It offers a free binder checklist, a private Facebook group, and workshops for employers.
Who is it for?
Anyone caring for a parent while living other lives too: working or running a business, in school, raising children, or caring for a family member with special needs. Daughters and sons, spouses and partners, and people planning ahead so their own children won't have to. It isn't limited to women, and you don't need a diagnosis in the family to join, though many members care for a parent living with dementia.
Is the checklist really free?
Yes. Enter your first name and email and The First 5 Things to Get in the Binder arrives by email right away, with a copy-and-paste AI prompt on page two.
Do I need to be good with technology or AI?
No. The checklist works on paper. The AI prompts work with the free versions of Claude or ChatGPT, and every step is written for someone who has never used them.
Is this medical, legal or financial advice?
No. Carrying Two Lives shares experience and organizing systems only. Rules differ by state, so check your state's current forms or talk with an elder-law attorney, and bring health questions to your parent's doctor.
How do I keep my parent's information private when using AI?
Write down where things are kept, never the secret numbers. Don't paste account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords or insurance IDs into any AI tool. Describe the situation instead of the identifiers.
Can my company bring this to our team?
Yes. Carrying Two Lives: Practical AI for Working Caregivers is a 60- or 90-minute hands-on workshop, virtual or in person. Email [email protected] to ask about dates.
